Please don't rush to do anything yet. I wrote out your question and posted it on the bulletin board in the bodega downstairs. People usually write in answers and I will let you know what they say.

Awesome.

I went to a clinic today, they confirmed that my thyroid cartilage is bruised and a nerve was likely pulled. They suspect it will get back to normal in a few days. They also lectured me for being an idiot. I have been thoroughly chastened from all sides.

Dude are you retarded? What kind of choke was it? If your throat hurts I'm guessing it was a wind choke and not a blood choke. My throat was frequently sore after practicing guillatine chokes, but I never had pins and needles. Could be a nerve, I might get it checked if it persists.

OP, I'm sure you're one tenacious (if possibly dense) bugger , but this thread was almost manouchian

Yeah, could also be a gi choke, if he was rolling with gi in. Anyway, it's practice. It's just a good idea to tap when someone has sunk something in really deep. It means, if nothing else, that you got trapped. While in a real match, you might want to try a high risk, high level escape, but there is nothing cool about just staying in a submission in practice.

Go see a doctor.

Also, it's just not good sportsmanship to not concede and tap in practice. But you probably heard that already. Good you don't seem seriously hurt though.
