I think those are both C&J. I was in the store yesterday and tried to pay attention to the nail patterns of all the different models. The only one that appeared to be AS were suede semibrogues (the calf ones were C&J), double monks, and plain toe derbys (like the tan ones thaat have been on sale, but black). Hope this helps

I noticed that they require adult signature if your order is above $1500.

One little-@$$ box today, delivered in Canada. Burgundy chukkas and a few pairs of socks.

(FWIW, the dainite soles are no better on ice than leather ... )

I bought true to size to my AE park avenue in the burgundy chukkas, and they seem 1 size too big to me :\\ heel slippage big time..
they are a size 9.5
If anyone wants to buy them off me for $165+ shipping I will do that.

I'd choose leather before Dainite for ice or any wet, smooth surface. Dainite's downright dangerous on wet tile.

For ice or slick surfaces, I reach for my topyed boots.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for customs / duties to ship the boots to Canada?

I forget the exact amount, but my order all together was over $300 (US), and I think it was pretty high ... close to $100 (CDN) if memory serves.

Oh, if you are contemplating a BB order, their 'free shipping' offer/discount will still apply sort of. For Canada, BB charges regular shipping costs plus $10 ... so if you happen to qualify for the free shipping, you just pay the $10. (This beats some other places where a "free shipping CONUS" offer means diddly-squat for Canadians and you pay regular full shipping.)

(Edit: on reflection, given the exchange rates, I probably paid about 25% of the value of the order. BS like this almost makes me wish we lost the War of 1812.)

Really, I had the opposite experience. It has been icy here for the past 2 days and lost it with a pair of leather soled boots and changed quickly to the BB ones above and had good grip.

What makes the dainte's slippery ? Do you mean for indoor tile with water on it ?
I could see that but outside I had more support from the other soles.

Dainite does fine for me as long as I'm on rough concrete or a pebbled surface. Inside, on wet tile (or other smooth, slick surface), it's awful. Plain leather soles are not much better, but my topys fare pretty well.
