+1. Another vote for Line Prophet 100 as a more regular ski in the same genre as those listed above. Just... buy something long enough to enjoy in deep snow if you're skiing Nelson, BC.

Most people I know that are 5'11"and between 165-185lbs ski AT LEAST 179cm. And they are all people on serious college racing teams. 15m radius? The majority of skis these days are 20+.

No offense, but you are uninformed. He said SLALOM skis. I'm sure his GS skis are 185+. All Slalom skis are that short. Race stock skis are a little different from All Mountain skis.

Ditto. I am 6 2 and my slaloms are 175s I believe. GS or all mtn is a different story. Just a quick recommendation- my friend has had extremely good experiences with his Fischer Wateas. I am planning on picking up a pair at the end of this season for my All Mtn boards.

Another suggestion is to check out www.epicski.com if you haven't already. Good forums and often good B&S threads.

I stand corrected. I did not see the slalom I just saw high school and race and immediately figured GS

I also didn't notice... but all the recommendations are still valid. And I've heard good things about the fischers as well, though they're not as commonly available as some of the other brands (that I know of).

Thanks guys - as I mentioned earlier, I ended up going with the Movement Thunder's, for telemarking. I tried them as downhill as well and found them to be a little too unforgiving, but for tele they have been AWESOME. Alot of people skiing in Nelson/Whitewater love the Thunder's for tele. I also demoed a pair of the Movement Goliath Sluff's with a touring setup - they were awesome! Same core construction as the thunder, but a bit fatter and with a more forgiving tip and tail. I would love to see how those ski for telemarking. Overall, for those of you that are freeskiiers and haven'ts checked out Movement they are definitely worth a look.

Exactly.

My skis were actually on the long end of the slalom spectrum. A lot of people were going lower...the minimum when I started racing in 2001 was 155cm for men and the people who were competitive (racing in junior Olympic quals and stuff) were all sitting right on that limit. In 2003 or 2004 they bumped it up to a 165 minimum for safety reasons though I dont think they enforced the FIS length rules in my high school league (since there would be short little freshman where short skis made sense).
