Hi,

I recently did my first workout after taking a couple of weeks off due to a back strain. My lifts were terrible and I'm in desperate need of some motivation to keep me fired up to get back to where I was and then continue to make progress. So, would you all share with me the fun and exciting things you can only witness in a gym!

I'll start, I really miss the little guy in my gym who is addicted to the cable station. This guy does his entire workout there which consists of making endless love to the cable station in all positions... i.e. low middle and high. He uses a mix of hip gyrations and arm swings. He finishes off by doing cable curls at a rate of 2 per second. His partner must be happy.

Also, I really miss the tough 40s guy who is so strong that he benches 80kg after I do it with a ROM of about 2 inches. ****, I don't care... what's wrong with people?

Gosh... I need to get motivated!!!!

There's a dude at my gym that stands on one leg on a bosu ball and punches a speed bag about as softly as my 4-year-old niece would. The funniest part is that he does this for about 20 minutes on each leg. It's actually sort of impressive that he can balance for that long.

There's a 40-something y.o. guy at my gym who is obsessed with shoulder shrugs. He grabs the dumbells and does set after set of shoulder shrugs. I've never seen him do any other exercise in the weightroom or on the machines. He likes to pose infront of the mirror in between sets.

The sad anorexic girl that works out twice a day, before and after work, for two hours at a time. She runs and lifts, but is a skeleton.

Oh... old fat naked guys that hang around the locker room. WTF!

Got one of those too.
Once I put a hamburger on her stair-master.
She was not amused.

Guys that wear baseball caps while working out. It gets in the way, it makes you hotter and we know you are bald.

where to start:

130lb guys with pot bellies doing isolation movements

trainers having fat people balance one-legged on bosu balls while doing shoulder presses

3-inch, 500lb squats

people benching with a 4 inch range of motion

kids under 18 who bench and curl every night

women paying $70/month for a gym membership, just to walk on a treadmill for 20 mins a night

people who don't train legs

guys who "train" for 2 hours, 1.5 of which is spent talking, preening or checking emails

Girls who do their make up, hair and "dress up" to work out. Not that I mind if they're hot.

Seriously... one of my biggest pet peeves. Isolation movements in general.. and people who have horrible form or who sacrifice all of their form just to lift more weight. Why, for ***** sake? Do you just enjoy keeping your chiropractor in business?

"ALL YOU....ALL YOU....I'M NOT HELPING....S'IT....ONE MORE!!!"

Meanwhile, spotter is actually doing more of the rep than the lifter (very impressive 135 lb bench in this case).
