Dumb things we see in the gym... - Page 9

Oh, and regarding the opposite: girls doing full squats with good technique is HOT! It's rare enough to see a guy doing anything but upperbody work; when you catch a glimpse of the fairer sex getting down with the King of exercises, it's something special

I was actually thinking the same thing, walking lunges seem pretty normal to me.

The things I hate:
-Not the hack squats, the half squats, or even the quarter squats. Its the damn people who do an eighth of a squat, swear that they are going to parallel, and preach that going any lower is bad on the knees.
-The group of guys who always talk and always seem to be in the way of what I'm trying to do.
-Using up all of the plates I need, then leaving them all over the gym.
-Putting every plate in the gym on the leg press, then completing a movement that is no more than 2 inches back and forth. Screaming at the same time is icing on the cake.
-Guys who do one body part each night, all iso movements, and flex in front of the mirror like they're huge.
-Sweaty f-ers who leave a lake of sweat on the bench and don't wipe it up.
-Stinky f-ers who forget to shower.
-Guys who know the least and teach others the most
-Fat women in tight clothing
-People who shut off the fans and shut the windows when its 90 degrees in the weight room.
-Insisting on almost running into me, or running into me, while lifting heavy weights.

Nope. Saw a pic of him in Flex last year where he was training heavy and despite not competing, still have a 6 pack.

Anyone else have a Tae Kwon Do guy who does his katas in the empty aerobics room?

What's the drop in your chest size from your waist, a foot?

One more: We used to have an old guy who would come into the gym at 5:30am, lay down on the floor naked, and slather himself with body lotion. (it's in the locker rooms). The guy was like 70, but the wierdest thing was that the gym didn't open until 5:00 am, so the guy couldn't have finished his workout and showered by then, he would have to come to the gym for the sole purpose of getting naked and rubbing lotion on his old, raisin like body every morning.

waist fluctuates between 34.75-35.5.
chest is 47"-48.5, depending on how heavy i'm training. just about a foot.

Do dumb things I hear count in this thread or do I have to start another thread?

I'm not the type to rag on anyone because of how much weight they lift. I'm just happy that people go to the gym so that it can stay in business and I can workout on equipment that I couldn't or wouldn't be able to buy myself (I have no where to put an olympic platform).

So don't take this the wrong way. It isn't about how much these kids were lifting, but what they were saying. . .

Both kids were quite thin. Rail thin. They were college students, but young, maybe freshmen. The taller one was giving advice to the shorter one and I overheard the discussion.

Tall skinny guy: "if you want to get huge like me dude, you gotta go buy a can of the no-expode stuff, you'll get big in no time"

Short skinny guy: "awesome, what else do I need"

Tall skinny guy: "get some protein powder, i drink like 5 shakes a day, that is how I keep my arms so big"

lmao, you guys are terrible. I stopped going to the gymn and just got a bowflex(going to th egym got old) it's worth it for the covienience purposes.

I do remember all the people there though; like the the old fat guys with 2 " waving around, the martial arts dude, the cougars, the anorexics, the kids, the guy who drops the wieghts, everyone checking themselves out in the mirror, the fat people eating in the cafeteria/bar area instead of actually working out.

Yeah, my gym has a bar in it, that's new orleans for ya.

Nice list we have going so far. A few of the common ones I see: -People doing very minimal ROM on their compounds or not doing compounds at all. A lot of posters have noticed the same thing. Not only does it look ridiculous but its ineffective. -Guys who "power walk" around the gym thinking they're hardasses. Theres this guy who walks really fucking slow throughout the gym and looks at himself in the mirror constantly. -Guys who flex in front of the mirror between sets. Sometimes they roll their shirts and check out their abs. -People who don't remove the weights off the bar once they're finished. -People who don't clean their sweat off the equipment. -Saw a guy who was break dancing in front of the dumbell rack. Not only was he blocking people from getting the dumbells but he wasn't even very good quite frankly. -Theres a guy who comes in with a big ass gym bag and boxes the back support of a cable machine.
