Hello, Do you any of you get crap from friends and family for caring about style and fashion, spending money on clothes, etcetera? Any good lines for when they annoy you that don't ruin a relationship? edit: Discuss!

usually "why are you dressed up?" That will often come when I'm wearing trousers and a sweater. I tend to ignore it.

that usually happens if you normally are seen dressed in underwear briefs and shirt only, with a bottle in hand...

We are all different. Do you give someone crap because they like rock music? Or because red is their favorite color?

Some people can't ever seem to grasp how I can live my life the way I live (I skip a lot of "creature comforts" like TV, cable, satellite radio, etc so I can fund my passions for travel, etc.). But, despite being unable to understand, they seem to live and let live.

My last boss clearly did not like me dressing too well. Fuck him, I've got his job now!

He would fixate on the most silly things. He would tell me about this wealthy lawyer we both know, wearing hand-me-down dress shirts, with someone else's monogram on them. Or how you should never pay for than $60 for dress shoes.

Piobaire, you inspire me to hold out against any clod of a boss---though, with that tip about the $60 shoes, it's no wonder he was put to pasture. A picture of the fool would make for some fun ridicule-in-effigy, if you have one.

And I like Soph's idea, but that could make the holidays a little tense... "Good morni--ohmigod what the hell are you WEARING?! Have you gone BLIND?! Upstairs NOW. Change NOW. We have people coming over!"

Actually, that sounds like fun!

No everyone appreciates that I am a sharp dresser. Especially for events that require a little dressing up.

However, I have had some coworkers call me "flashy" and everon thinks I spend too much on clothes. Which I actually don't do. I spend to much drinking.

No. I do, however, get many compliments from females which works out quite nicely for me. Gay males seem to like it also, but they're barking up the wrong tree.
