Shoe Question-Square versus Beveled Waist

I'm about to pull the trigger on a pair of Vass shoes (thanks to Gabor for extending the pricing program.). To save Gabor the time, what is the difference between a beveled and a square waist? Excuse my ignorance.

A bevelled waist will be much narrower, will fit very closely to the upper of the shoe (so closely that, if done right, you cannot see the top of the sole or any stitching) and its sides will be angled inward rather than perpendicular to the ground. A square waist basically looks the same as the rest of the sole.

Thanks, Manton. I appreciate it. Sounds like the beveled waist has much more of a dressy look to it than does the square waist. Is that correct?

Yep.

That's perfect. I ended up going with the bevelled waist, FYI. I anxiously await my first pair of Vass shoes. I hope I love them, but I'm worried that now that I have traded up this first time from C&J handgrade, I won't go back....I better start looking for a higher paying job or a bank to rob.
