I am looking for my next shoe and looking for advice from wise minds.

I had recently purchased a pair of C&J Lowndes and could not be more happier with the thinner elongated last so I am looking for something similar but maybe in an oxford and not necessarily English.

I have been looking through the Shoe Appreciation Damage thread and I have no doubt beauty is in the eye of the beholder and one shoe brand that caught my eye is Romano Martegani.

Ideally shoe is brown, chisel toe-ish, captoe, maybe a medallion but not too much other frills.

Have also looked through PLAL and Pediwear and nothing really has caught my interest in a narrow last. At one stage was considering Loake Norwich however a few posts mention its wide.

Wise minds here is your chance.

Just bought these - shell cordovan Marteganis

The color is a nice brownish burgundy -a bit more than the pictures show, but I am lazy and do not feel like using The Gimp to fix the colors. They are my second pair of Marteganis, and I am quite liking them.

I remember readind somewhere that the construction of Martegani is nothing to write home about.. I may be wrong, but I think the consensus was that it was not as well made as AE. Appearance would got to Martegani, as I cannot think of many AE that actually appeal to me aesthetically..

Out of curiosity how did you size on the Lowndes? I having been meaning to grab some for a while and am not sure on the sizing... I usually take a 11D in AE 11 ferragamo/santoni, but a 10.5D in some other dress shoes... I am assuming I would need a 10-10.5uk in these?

There is a whole separate thread RE: my adventures with the Lowndes however in a nut shell I was very worried that they were too small for me . I got a size 9.5UK and my food is not the narrowest however after a couple of wears I feel like they are starting to give (particularly my right foot which seems to be slightly wider than the left).

I highly recommend them. I wore them out for the first time seriously the other night and many of an eye was thrown at them. I think they are versatile enough to wear with Denim and/or a suite (though debatable on this forum) and I highly recommend them.

I think there is something about a double monk with double shining buckles. If you notice women like shiny things be it jewellery, the buckles on their bags belts and etc so I think this shoe has a sub-conscious 'Kervorka' effect on them

Looking for a shoe of similar quality with the same sort of narrow elongated last.

Good luck

Ohhhhh, that is an easy one: Buy another pair of C&J.

I'd recommend the C&J Weymouth based on the 337 last. Elegant oxford-shoe with medallion but no other frills. Nice in darkbrown!
