(Walter @ Mar. 08 2005,11:54) What about my suggestion of silk knots, master ?
I never really liked the things, and never saw the point. The purpose of a French cuff shirt is to add a little formality and flair to an ensemble. Silk knots seem to defeat that purpose: the cuff will flap around, so you have to put something there, but you don't want real links, so you use something cheap and informal. Why not just wear a button-cuff shirt in the first place?
Actually, I like using silk knots that offset, yet match the other items in my outfit. Like the picture I posted of my blue SB 3-button jacket with light gray trousers and black lace-ups, worn with a white shirt with blue-purplish stripes and double cuffs with was paired with silk knots of intertwined dark blue and purple thread. Looks quite good, IMHO. Not to dressy, it keeps with the motif of the off jacket. Jon.
