Brooklyn Restaurant near bridge?

I need some quick advice for a date, guys. What are a few good upscale spots walkable or a short cab ride from the base of the Brooklyn Bridge? I'd do the River Cafe, but reservations are probably impossible for this Sat. What's good??

There's a fantastic italian place almost under the bridge, RIGHT by the water, across from those posh Jahovah's witness apartments. It's been like 10 years since I've been there but I'm almost positive it's still there.

How "upscale" are we talking?

Henry's End in the Heights, isn't too bad. Five Front is extremely close (by Patsy Grimaldis).

Hope this doesn't sound too unrefined but if I hear the words Brooklyn Bridge and Restaurant in the same sentance my mind yells only one thing: GRIMALDIS!

Wow. This is my specialty! So many.

On Henry Street alone there there is both the aforementioned Henry's End, which is very good up-scale, older crowd (not too old) modern American fair. Very good duck. A tad pricey but less than Manhattan. Right down the block, closer to the bridge is Noodle Pudding, a norther Italian (not typical "red sauce") that does great food, be wary, cash only. Very good homemade lasagna. 5 Front near Grimaldi's is a good Spanish crossover place, creative. In DUMBO, but not far, is Superfine, which is an all-organic restaurant which later gets a good bar scene. Heights Cafe on Montague is always a great standby right near the promenade, nothing exceptional but solid nonetheless. The place SField mentioned is likely the now departed Palmira's. It had a great bar special ($2 Brooklyn Beers at Happy Hour) and solid food. Alas, rents have gone up. If you need a pre-dinner drink henry St. Ale House has a nice selection. Afterwards take her to the Clover Club on Smith St, its a LONG walk, try and get a cab, it might be difficult though. There are many other places. PM me if you have any questions.

you know what I'm talking about? Had a giant oven, open kitchen, really great pizza. A lot of younger people went on dates there.
