Fingerless Gloves?

This may be a stupid question, but since I've never owned a pair... do they really keep your hands warm? Seriously, they don't seem like they'd work, but I assume that they're so ubiquitous for a reason. People who've had experience, yay or nay?

Thanks,
Dan

wait

mittens? or fingless gloves?

I don't like both but fingerless gloves are fashion only.

I first read this as "Fiberglass Gloves" and was very confused... I think fingerless gloves are more fashion-y than actually functional

what about those fingerless gloves that have fold over mittens? the concept seems to make sense. you have mittens, which are warmer than gloves, but you also have the use of your fingertips when needed. however, i've yet to see a decent looking pair. anyone seen one?

I have a pair and people tell me I look like a hobo when I wear them. But they're good for keeping hands warm and smoking cigs

I hate those. They're confining and impractical. I'm outside a lot so I need fitted, yet warm gloves that let me actually do things like open a bag without freezing. I have some nice coal ones wool ones, some j crwe wool ones, some leather random ones, and I want to pick up some cashmere.

I enjoy my Kangol convertible mittens. UO has 'em.

I don't think they keep you very warm, but they can look good with certain aesthetics.

If you think about it, you're fingertips are they most likely part of the hand to get cold, being the furthest from your heart. The convertible ones are more practical.

They're more functional than rolled up pants on guys

Personally, I use my hands a lot and I don't like wearing gloves because I feel like the are sometimes constricting and prevent me from doing things like turning pages or digging for things in my bag. That is why I find convenience in fingerless gloves.

However, I am probably one of few who are intrigued by "pauvre de luxe" fashion.

And I live in San Diego. I believe this was the first week that was "cold" every day out of this entire year.
