Concorde jets - Page 6

Was watching a Concorde video in Youtube tonight ... then found this thread.

I used to enjoy going to Kew Gardens to watch them fly over on approach to Heathrow. Fortunately I did have a number of opportunities to fly the Concorde ... mostly the New York - London route on BA. It's an experience that is much missed. Heck, even the luggage was given special treatment being zipped inside a heavy duty plastic bag to protect it from damage.

I'm also recalling talking to a Concorde captain who had the honor of piloting while Prince Charles and Princess Diana were aboard. As they were flying over European airspace they were not allowed to fly at supersonic speed. The pilot claims that Charles tried to egg him on with ... "Perhaps over France."

Not everyone like Jeremy Clarkson, but in this instance his writing is rather appropriate. JC Talks about Concorde and soul. Love him or hate him, he's not wrong on this occasion.

I flew both BA and AF. Cabins were a bit tight; no sleeper seats like we have today. From check in to arrival, service was great.
