Denim 101 for Men's Clothing

I'm looking for straight leg jeans around $200, with room around thighs, not keen on skinny leg.

Currently I have Levi's Made & Crafted Ruler, and want to add some variety.

I'm leaning towards Nudie Average Joe, I like the contrast orange stich.

Good fit is high priority to me I'm 5'8" 155lb. Normally get 32 x 30 .

Thoughts, anything else I should consider.

RRL Low Straight is a nice cut, not too skinny and more room in the thighs. I have similar parameters to your own, and I just got a pair of LVC 501Z XX, but they are $250.

What about Jean Shop? They're a little pricier but they also come with a very bright contrast stitching (absent the back pocket stitching, though). The fit has always been a bit off on me personally, but everyone is different. I've also recently come to like J Brand, though I think you'll find very different people gravitating to those vs. Jean Shop.

Might want to look at Rag & Bone and its models. With any brand we would recommend here, you'll need to get them hemmed down to 30 like you would with an decent pair of slacks.

Tellason would be another good suggestion. I prefer Rogue Territory but the fits may be a little slim for what you're looking for; they have plenty of room in the thighs but they do taper a bit.

RRL (Straight Fit or Low Straight) would be my first choice but they're a bit more than $200. Jean Shop is a good brand but they can be a bit harder to track down than RRL for under $200. There are better alternatives.

I would add that on the RB the fit you'll probably want is the RB15x and that you should try on a few since not all of them fit the same. The raw ones, for example, don't have as low a crotch as the resin coated and I for one find them slightly less constricting to walk in, given that I wear all my jeans on the hip regardless of rise.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I'm now leaning towards Rag & Bone, both fits look quite nice, they have a store in DC where I can try them out.

There is also a RL store nearby, why are the RRL much better?

Check to see if your RL store actually carries RRL as not all do. There's a RRL thread in SW&D where I have an updated store list on the very first post.

Also, if lots of stitching (such as the back pocket) was part of what attracted the OP to the Nudies then the RRL will be a good option as well. If in DC, though, I'd suggest one of the Barney's Coop stores in the area as there will likely be an opportunity to try on all of the brands referenced.
