From what I've gathered, the only jeans you, you the ones reading MC, size down in are cheap Levi 501's and APCs, known vanity size offenders.

One of the best things about RRLs is that if you patient they will show up in B&S or ebay at prices in the $50-$100 range. For me, this makes acceptable experimentation over the web without first trying things on. If you want to work in the $200+ range, read and re-read the things folks are saying in this thread.

Your standing samurai are pretty sweet they are the 21 oz yes? Now I'm all emotionally confused, was going to get the s5000bks but I don't know now.

For the RRLs, I have a pair of rrl slim boot I purchased from sf before summer just for kicks because they were so cheap.

Turns out the rrls are one of my favorite pairs to wear the cut is amazing. The denim I would say compares neck and neck with any of the similar looking ones from BiG (not pbj, denim is a different animal).
I wear them tough and yes, they don't stretch too well.

I'm talking about the raw sanforized japanese selvege rrls.

Evisu does made to measure in their own "evisu tailor" shops. You get to bespeak the denim you want (huge selection of about 4) and they hand paint the "gulls" on the back pockets if you want them. I read they even opened up a shop on Savile Row. If you don't buy their over the top fashion lines it is agruably the best classic denim you can get your hands on.

I'd say as far as entry level raw denim goes, naked and famous is making a great case for itself against the likes of APC, especially since they make jeans in so many different types of denim. I probably won't pick one up till they start making button flys though.

How tall are you with a 34" inseam?

The problem is that not much straight leg denim really goes past 34" in length.

Thanks for the advice. I'm a little shy of 6'2" and I suppose I have a rather short torso with proportionally longer legs.

I wouldn't have much need to go past 34 in length...some 34s are too long for me.

What should I be looking for in terms of rise? I'm not a fan of the super low rise but I recognize that wearing pants a little bit lower can help to balance out my long legs/short torso.

I think you are going to break the Foo with that comment. BTW, I am thinking of getting some APCs to go along with my Ironhearts and Sugar Canes. How many sizes down should I go from IH and SC?

They're not pre-faded. The denim was raw and unfaded when new.

Then I apologize. I hope I didn't break you. I know how sensitive you are.

What is your waist size?
What pair of APCs were you looking at?
What type of fit do you want?

Did you buy your ironhearts TTS?

(Notice how I'm picking up the lingo?)

I don't know what my "true waist" is, but I wear a 33 in Ironheart and a 32 in Sugarcane, though a 33 would have worked as well. I am thinking of New Standards, as I just want a basic jean with no particular personality. I guess I'd want a classic jean fit, like a 501, but maybe a little trimmer.

Fill me in. WTF is TTS? Really, I just want to be like Foo. I've never been able to wear jeans with a sport coat, and it makes me feel as inadequate as someone with a three dollar power cord.

TTS = True to Size.

I don't think you will be satisfied with New Standards if you already have IH 634s and Sugarcanes, simply due to the lower quality. What Sugarcane do you have?

If you are looking for something slim and classic I would recommend:

Eternal 811
Skulls 50-10xx
Flat Head 3001
SDA 103
