True. The guy drinks more than you, myself, whodini and Flambeur combined. If that's not dependency, I don't know what is!

Have cut down in the last two days. Had a reasonable amount of Vodkas last night (4), and a bottle of Champagne this evening.

That is cutting down? If so,

Compared to the preceding days, certainly.

V8 vegetable juice, tylenol, and--if you have access to a tub--as long a soak as you can manage. I've had varied success with "sweating it out," though that can just as easily make you yearn for death as help you feel better.

As a rule, caffeine has never, ever helped.

All of this is my own personal experience of course, good luck to you in finding your own most-effective cure.

Alcohol and acetaminophen/paracetamol mixing can cause acute liver toxicity which is untreatable and according to my doctor possibly the most painful way to die. Since most substances are metabolized in the liver drugs are not effective at that point.

Tylenol by itself is the leading cause of liver failure and kills more people than heroin and cocaine every year. Ibuprofen (Advil) and the other NSAIDs kill a lot of people due to stomach bleeding - also a horrible way to go.

To prevent/cure hangovers I have found drinking a lot of water before passing out to be helpful in reducing the intensity of the hangover. Next day drink a lot of water. I don't know if it really helps but it's something to do. Also, do not lay around all day. Go out, run errands be active. That will help.

Finally, the night of the hangover (maybe around 6 pm) treat yourself to a drink or two. It will get rid of the remnants of the hangover.
