The real question is whether when wearing braces it is alright to remove one's jacket when on the commode.

My understanding is that one should not wear a jacket while sitting. Just like when one is walking around the jacket should always be closed and not hanging around... During dinners people will notice my scarlet red braces, but it is not allowed (etiquette) walking around and showing them. It is one of those pesky unwritten rules like not wearing button-down with a tie to work, etc. However people with a public function on the tv should wear their jacket sitting (Larry King and Jort Kelder look rediculous.
