Daybeds: what's the point?

Do daybeds have any point, other than looking girly? Are you supposed to take your naps on the daybed, and sleep at night in your, uh, nightbed

i find having one keeps houseguests from getting too comfortable, a good thing IMO.

"Daybed" should only be used to describe the only true daybed ever made -- the Barcelona. What you have pictured above is so much a bastardization of taste and design that it deserves a more colorful and descriptive name I shall spare typing here.
