Does that refer to "my" item?
One wonders whether that's embossed, or genuine.

I don't think I've seen much in the way of embossed hornback, and this looks like it has some hornback or back scales in it. I think it's simply a matter of this going below the radar. Congrats on an interesting purchase, Bengal. Let us know how it turns out.

BTW, I just bought a Hermes notebook cover in what appears to be exceptionally small scale alligator or croc -- from 1965!!!!!! Could it be snakeskin?

There are definitely embossed, or "Faux" hornback alligator cowboy boots sold in Texas.

Some looks pretty good.

Yes, as rnoldh points out, I've seen faux hornback stuff: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-CROCODILE-HO...QQcmdZViewItem That looks sort of like snakeskin, or even lizard. The picture is rather bad so I can't tell much. Is it the PM model? Mine is in phoque.

Here's the $349 Schedoni briefcase that I missed out on a couple of weeks ago. Looks like it is being re-marketing.

Daniely Tramezza in brown, size 9D, for $320 BIN: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...E:B:SS:US:1123 Shipping, though, is a whopping $35. Note that the toe area has a blemish -- seller says it should polish under.

Ending soon: New Zegna NC bluchers in 10.5. http://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-Zegna-Napol...QQcmdZViewItem

I had the loafer version of these and tried these on they are very well made shoes and well worth the $300 imo. I wish they were one size smaller.

What looks like a very nice vintage Sulka scarf

I don't really need it, so it's gone beyond what I was prepared to bid for it. But it looks like it would work very well with Black Tie. Or for giving to the missus, if you're feeling generous.

Is the buyer bidding way too much here?

And what is Brooks Bros. "Country Club"?

Probably. What's going on with that last picture in auction?

This post should have been in "Ebay suits, sportcoats, and other clothing"

I've moved it there.

It's stressful watching Meet the Press on Sunday Mornings!

I don't think it's too much, since GF blazers only go as low as $398 (IIRC) during BB semi-annual sales. I imagine they would all fly off the rack at that price.

I suspect the Country Club tag originally belonged to another item and comes with this one only because the label was "partially removed".
