Congrats, wearing mine today. Unfortunately, I just had a bad experience with GVH and I am so addicted to them that it will still not keep me from shopping with them

Thanks Ed. Do tell on the bad experience, though.

I got a pair and promptly returned them to GVH - they were incredibly wide and very clunky. The photos they use suggest a fairly svelt shape. Nope. The toe shape is as clunky and rounded as a construction worker's work boots. The sole is also very widely cut; that is, it sticks out rather far from the sole. I knew I'd never wear them.... Plus, I found the fit to be larger than the listed size, as if they are intended to be worn with heavy socks or something.

You are right in all accounts. However, I believe they are meant to look like old combat boots (which is what drew me to them). Actually, a few weeks ago at a large thrift store I saw at the booth of a military memorabilia vendor a pair of WWII US issue combat boots that looked a lot like those boots.

My pair has arrived now.

1. Construction is Blake/Rapid (there's stitching through the insole and around the welt).

2. They're huge! They're marked as size 6 on the lining, but I'd say they're at least UK 6.5 if not 7.

I'll take some pics later to add to the shoe porn collection, but unless they fit my brother, it looks like I'll have to return them.

That's a shame; they're beautiful shoes. BTW, Lobb shoe tress in various sizes can be found on ebay right now. There is no information concerning whether or not they fit a specific last:

They do, or did, but only in a couple of stores. The San Francisco store had them for several years.
