Obviously, I can't speak to questions along the lines of "how often". But certainly it's not unusual to see someone post something and say something along the lines of: "I'm bidding on these but am only willing to go up to $XXX, so if someone else wants to outbid me feel free."

I'm not projecting my myself onto others, it's just common sense. It would make little sense to invite more competition, and it seems to be agaisnt human nature. I like this thread, but I'm not naive enough to expect people to post every good thing they see. Enough people have hinted that some shoes they want to keep secret, for me to expect it to be otherwise.

I had ordered these from the Madison Ave store. Had used my AAAC 15% card. They had to search around for a while before they found these. Turns out they were too long. They are still NIB. I was planning to take them back to BB but if someone wants this hard to find size (at 15% off retail of $568 + NY taxes shipping etc) please respond here. If not, back they go.

They are cordovan (burgundy) in colour.

The Dunhills are not EG.

Not sure whether the Peal is or not. Caveat Emptor.

Some asshat sellers have started asserting that just about anything is made by EG.

OK I changed my description to nice shoes

I'm sure forumers have seen these. The seller's other pair of identical shoes in a stated size 10.5 were flagged a day or two ago by Vinouspleasure. The seller depicts these as being in Size 8.5 US, but this seems extremely unlikely given the measurements he or she has provided for the shoes. Outside length of 12" and inside length of 11.5" don't translate into 8.5 US, but rather more like 9.5 US. (The US 9.5 Sutor Mantellassi shoe of identical construction and almost identical contours has an inside length of 11.25".) The shoes show 8.5 as their size, but, if the seller's measurements are correct, this must be the "Santoni" or maybe UK size.

Note also that they appear to be (although hard to tell for sure) the orange-sock variety of FAM, not the top-of-the-line FAMs (although still very nice shoes). The Fritz model does retail for $990 at Sherman Bros., so seller isn't inflating retail value. Too bad we can't be sure about the size.

Why do all the good deals on shoe come in tiny sizes? Serioulsy, how tall do you have to be to wear a size 8? Are there no 11/11.5 shoe deals left?!?!

Damn straight!! WTF is up with all the tiny feet? We need some nice 11/11.5's.

^ There are going to be a proportionally larger amount of smaller size shoes hitting ebay because more are made for the market. Think of it like a bell curve.

Edit: Also, there are not many deals to be found in the 11-12 range because of me... ok I'm kidding there... except for Alden's...
