Absolutely correct. But they are very comfortable for long long walks. I wore them in lieu of sneakers when traveling through Singapore and also through Europe.

As mentioned in my PM ... dont feel bad and enjoy your shoes. I am sure there'll be more deals. And I do appreciate your gesture.

damn you. i was hoping those would stay under the radar.

The reserve has not even been met though. For alll we know, the reserve is set at $5 less than the BIN

I'm thinking reserve is $850-950

These look slightly more beat than the "ridiculously lightly worn" that is represented in the auction, but I think they're pretty cool - if you have some long feet and can get 'em for the opening bid.

How much do think that would go for? I don't watch the vintage trunk market as much as I should.

Here's a link to an SF discussion about Hermes branded shoes made by Lobb in England (brown soled): http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=47048

The same seller says the Alden cordovan tassel loafers are made in England. Obviously not true (or else they aren't Alden, which is similarly unlikely in that C&J doesn't make a cordovan tassel loafer).

People do, in fact, post stuff they're interested in. Not everyone, of course. But it's certainly not accurate to say that nobody posts stuff they're interested in. Nor do I think the thread has a "fatal flaw". I find it sometimes useful and often interesting.

what would transference have to do with this situation?
I don't think anybody is redirecting childhood feelings to the forum.

Yes the thread might be useful and interesting, but I bet if somebody found a badly listed pair of lobbs in their size going extreamly cheap AND they were in the market. There is no way the person would post it here.

The real good bargains are usually posted by people who are not in the market, either because of size, price, style etc. It would be interesting to know how many people posted shoes that they would later bid on. I'm sure it has happened, but how often?

Sorry, "projection" is more what I was ironically suggesting than "transference", probably. Haven't really kept up on my pop psychology reading.

Obviously, I can't speak to questions along the lines of "how often". But certainly it's not unusual to see someone post something and say something along the lines of: "I'm bidding on these but am only willing to go up to $XXX, so if someone else wants to outbid me feel free."

I'm not sure what you are trying to prove. Of course I'm not goint to post a pair Santoni FAM double monks that another quality member and I have already bid on but there are enough people of different sizes posting on this thread that the odds of it not showing up here are pretty low.

p.s. If you're 8.5, here are some black Tramezza Nostros starting at $199 http://cgi.ebay.com/650-Ferragamo-Tr...QQcmdZViewItem

and some very nice Testonis http://cgi.ebay.com/675-TESTONI-HAND...QQcmdZViewItem

These Campanile specs are pretty cool http://cgi.ebay.com/CAMPANILE-Italia...QQcmdZViewItem
