Nettleton was better than Florsheim, AE and Alden. Nettleton was in a class with JMs. Stacy Adams was no less than equal to Florsheim, AE and Alden.
Don't be fooled by today's SAs. During the 50s and 60s JM, SA, and Nettleton were in the same price range. Florsheim, AE and Alden were always a few bucks cheaper.

Thanks for the perspective, I find the history on these companies quite interesting. For what its worth I've sold numerous vintage shell Nettletons and florsheims (in fact I have several pairs in my basement that I need to list....one never having been worn ) and based on the photos provided in this auction these look spot-on identical to the vintage Florsheims I've seen.

I wore JM, SA,Bally, and Nettletons in the 60s. Florsheims and the others were not "cool enough" for us young players The older guys wore alot of Florsheims and Hanovers on Sundays.

Single row of nails on both sides with 3 nails on top of the rubber key. Looks like C&J to me....

Correct, they're C&J made. I own a pair of the black Doughboy boots as well.

Cole Haan Englands, size 12. $19.00 bin. I would guess Cheaney is the maker.

Never had the pleasure of putting my foot in Kiton shoes unfortunately. If they don't work for you, give them to me and I'll re-sell them.
