Times sure have changed

They have. In 03 I tried to sell a pair of RLPL/EG wholecuts, new with trees, for $400. Listed them for about 6 months without selling them and finally had to give them away at $325 or so. I used to buy new Edward Green shoes for $125-$250 all the time back then. Of course the dollar/pound exchange was very different then and EG's sold for about $750 at retail.

People will pay more for a label with a label? Man, that's like paying for Prada for the name.

They are on a special last, with some additional detailing, not to mention those trees and shoe bags. And yes, they are Flusser.

I doubt he'll get the BIN, although they "may" be worth it.

They're suede. wingtips. and have no laces. 3 factors that will limit the demand. If it were me, I would bid to break the BIN, and then do a second snipe at 525 or so just in case somebody comes in late.

As it is, I've got very similar shoes suede elastic slip on wingtips from Paul Stuart. Which look fantastic, but I never wear them.

Maybe next year.....

Most rare shoes go to Japan. If they were a smaller size they would probably already be gone.

So bummed I missed this, I have been looking for one of these hides for years. I contacted the seller and it looks like it is going to cost me a fortune to procure another. If someone here bought it and wants to make some money selling it to me, let me know.

I quite like the texture of the leather, but $1300 retail...?

They are labelled Thom Browne. Read the Asparagus Heir's posts.

^Tricker's is the maker as per earlier discussions. The $1300 price tag is for the pull tab on the back of the shoe.

Aldens that the seller claims are shell cordovan:

Here's the Ebay listing

The price is still low. It looks like a regular calfskin 660 Alden to me. What say you experts?

yes. the breakdown is about $350 for the shoe and $1000 for the pull tab.

edit:

Here's a tricker's badged cap-toe version - sale price is gbp 150.

notice how the leather and the sole is virtually the same, except for the metal toe protecter and the red, white and blue pull tab.
