Are these Brooks Brothers C&J made for women under the Peal label? I think they might end up staying pretty low.

do you know who makes those faconnable shoes?
I don't but I believe they make an underrated shoe. I think they have used different makers sargent, alden, etc. These are made in italy. I personally think for $100, this is a steal but other may not share my opinion...

Those are hot action!
I am really glad they are not my size.
Also, if this is what their new shoe line looks like, I am buying.

yes, part of the reason is that they don't have a combination heel - but rather, a rubber heel. AE almost always uses combination heels with shell cordovan and rubber heels with calfskin or corrected grain. So the lower price is in part due to suspicion from sophisticated bidders that these may be corrected grain.

That being said, outside from the heel anomaly, they really do look like shell cordovan. But I can't guarantee it.

I'm pretty sure there was a discussion somewhere, maybe in this thread, about this particular shoe.

Just picking up on Doc Holliday's post from earlier. The prices don't seem too bad for new "S" and "R" Lobbs--$535 for Classic Line; $635 or $735 for Prestige Line--although these are the opening prices. I'd be surprised, though, if they went much higher, and personally, I wouldn't be dissuaded by a $35 shipping charge (interestingly only $27 to Canada!) for this quality. If insurance is important to you, I'd inquire about it, despite the seller's statement in the listing. S/he might be willing to consider it. Again, it's interesting that insurance is available to international buyers. Canadians should take note here given the strength of the Canadian dollar against the greenback (at about $1.04 US now) and the seller's shipping prices and practices. I doubt that we Canucks will see Lobbs at this price much in the future--Vales at about $707 Cdn. for example.

Seller says they're Grenson Masterpieces, and the picture of the soles leads me to think that they probably are--or of equivalent quality.

Maybe you can't...but he does. He was questioned on the subject in the auction and guarantees them to be cordovan. 100% rating with over 1600 feedbacks. Sophisticated bidders read the entire auction.

well, Men's Whorehouse guarantee's you'll look fantastic. Lot's of people agree. Do you believe that? Do you want to engage in the transaction costs of buying, not getting what you ordered, and wasting time returning things?

Also, it seems Allen Edmonds DID make a burgundy polished cobbler model - see
http://www.styleforum.net/showpost.p...63&postcount=1

for an older example and the upper of these shoes look very much like the upper of the alleged shell cordovan shoes.

Well, according to that premise we should just write off eBay entirely.

If you're not going to trust a seller with that high a rating and that many transactions, with the vast majority of those transactions in shoes, then you can't trust anyones guarantee or anything on eBay for that matter.

Distinctive, you might just a well fold up your tent right now!

And where did I question whether AE made that shoe in polished cobbler?

I had the sipleasure of buying some AE MacCallisters which were CG (though you don't have to polish 'em much) and they informd me they made for the Euro market.
