Correct. A good sign to look for on AE's is the heel pattern - if there's both a rubber and leather piece on it, then it's most likely shell. Shoes that have not been worn will also have a "Shell Cordovan" stamp on the sole. Of course, you can forget this if the heel and sole have been replaced.
indeed, that is what confirmed it for me. but it's pretty clear from the upper as well.
but keep in mind that there are a number of special orders floating around with the combination heel and shell cordovan stamp that are clearly NOT shell cordovan.
