"Department store return" AE Park Ave's in black size 10D ....and 10.5D for $59.99 BIN....yellow flag on sellers feedback. These would go a good bit higher in this condition without the BIN, so if you're just starting out and don't want to spend to much or don't want to dabble in heavily worn shoes this might work well for you...

2 Ebay deals I have been watching but won't go for, so figured somebody here might enjoy. I have no affiliation with either auction.

1) EG Yardley. NIB. $355 current bid with about 9 hours to go. Size US9E

2) Church's Black Cap Toes - slightly used but they look like they are in great condition. Size is US9C. For a younger person looking to get a high quality shoe at a good price, this might be it. Bidding at $40.00 with 4 hours to go.

Good eye, Jabney. Those are both real bargains on very nice shoes. I'm surprised that the NIB EG Yardleys are still at that price ($355 with 9 hours to go in a 7-day listing). The Yardley has the hand-stitched apron that raises the shoe's retail price by about $75 - $100 over regular EGs. In addition, they come with the lasted shoe trees. The seller's statement about the retail is correct and maybe even a little low--for the shoes. The trees add another $75 or so. Note that they're wider than standard--UK F-fitting, so the stated size of 9E US seems right on the mark. If these go for anything less than about $700, someone has really obtained a bargain.

The EGs were posted when the listing first hit; I suspect some shrewd bidders here are watching for the snipe.

Thanks for the tip on the Church's jabney. I was looking to pick up a pair of cheap, quality black cap toes - hope I didn't overpay at $60.

60 bucks for a high quality shoe, especially in great condition is not over paying at all in my opinion. I own a pair of the identical shoes and I absolutely love them. If you take care of them, they will last you 15 years. Congrats on the great deal.

I cant believe these skyes only went for $180. Never seen these on ebay, period. The pics are terrible I guess.

Heh, I was just looking at those again too. The EG's he had also sold low: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=002

Summary of story: I should have given him an offer on all of his shoes, and not just the Aldens

Yup, they are, a nicely designed ad and great photos would have fetched a higher price, but as a buyer these are the listings to look for.

I agree. I was originally thinking that the C&J's would have gone for between 300-350 and the EG's 400-450.

I offered him $350 for the EGs...
