Correct?

That's really my question. I like the shoe in any case and don't feel I greatly overpaid even if they are merely cordovan colored, but naturally I'd prefer they were shell. I couldn't quite decide which they were. I see some creasing but there is also the soft, kind of rolling creases you see in shell. They were dirt cheap until the last minute when the back and forth got the seller a quick $35.00. Guess we''ll find out for sure when they arrive.

look like calf. Cordovan J&Ms are usually Aristocrafts and clearly say "Genuine Shell Cordovan" on both the inside and outside.

Not necessarily, mine just say it on the sole which happens to be blacked out on these. I think they are calf as well. If they are indeed shell...there is some major cracking of the leather. I like the style though.

Those seem a bit odd to me, like the toecap belongs on another shoe.

Only on the sole. The upper looks like Kenneth Cole broke into the Santoni factory.

There's a number of nice Testonis available on STP. Any thoughts/experience with these?

Testoni Suede Oxfords - Closeout Sizes

These look great, if a little out of my price range:

Testoni Monkstraps
