Good deal, I bet. Shell often cleans up pretty well. People beat the daylights out of it, and it just needs a little TLC.

Tarmac, you want to be second place on those 'fam's . these are a lower line and this particular line is less well-made than the typical US classic line.

look at the thinness of those soles. they are not goodyear even.

even for $122, im glad you saved that money for something better.

Yeah I regretted it after bidding, and I hoped someone would outbid me. I got lucky and someone did

That's crazy. If those are legit, someone could probably do well by buying all of them (there are multiples of each). Seller doesn't list shipping to the U.S.

I'm split on whether these are shell or not. I have a very, very similar pair of vintage Florsheims that I would swear were shell but are not. They exhibit the same long-wave buckling as do yours (and shell), but also exhibit the fine wrinkling I see in your shoes. Also, the eyelets and stitching don't appear to be shell to me. I hope I'm wrong due to just being a little trigger shy after my experience. Here are mine for comparison (for sale BTW...thread coming on this forum):

On your shoes I would expect more buldging and softer lines at the eyelets and in the stitching here:

Again, I may be wrong but for the price you did fine. If they're not shell they are probably similar to my Florsheims, which wear very nicely!

I think they're legit and bought one; of course, I am not a final RJ authority.

I have one I bought earlier which looks exactly like the models pictured, right down to the odd little dust bag the seller includes in some of the auctions.

Granted, it's just a card holder: a piece of leather with a couple of pockets stitched to it. Useful for things like cards you swipe during the day. I can't promise it'll look like the Berluti wallet The Foxx posted on MC, but it's made out of decent quality leather.

gdl203, you're welcome. Holy crap, these are going fast. Perhaps they will become the official forum card holder, like the official Aquascutum pocket square and the official Polo C&J shoe?

^Yes, thanks for posting the link. He's going to wonder what hit him (and wished he'd charged more).

both of those vintage shoes look like shell to me.

He may yet, as you don't know how much he'll charge you for shipping.

Thanks. I really thought it was a great line. I hate the shoes and would never wear them. I don't like woven shoes...at all. I think they'd clash with my new RJ card holder, anyway.

HB, thanks for the comparison. I dunno. I'll have to check them out firsthand. If they're not shell, c'est la vie (with a fez).

The design is almost identical to these Hanovers, but those do seem to have softer edges to the eyelets and stitching that are characteristic of shell.

Tarmac, those santonis may have been so-so quality relative to others, but damn they're pretty.

I have to stay out of this thread.
