In his descriptions, he seems to consider Florsheim Imperials as the greatest shoe ever made in the US?  Anyone agree? My dad used to wear Florsheims, and, I have to say, I was never a big fan.
He's probably thinking of the old, v-cleat style that used to be made in the USA. Double soled, either a blucher long wing or plaintoe. I'm guessing you could make a case for that. There's probably something to be said for the power and sturdiness of that shoe. The current versions are imitations, granted, good imitations, but imitations still.

Not sure who made these; could be EG Dovers or Perths: .... Suede McAfees, email for size: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....69&rd=1 ...
I purchased these, better than what I expected. However, a little too small for my feet.  They are a british 9.5.  I am about to list them on ebay for $68, but will offer them to someone here first at that price. -

Don't know, but my though was C&J just by use of the "bench made" language.

The logo makes me think it is pre-Church's: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....89&rd=1 These might be post-acquisition but the price is right and they look decent -- and new: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....13&rd=1 Jerry's done it again: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....71&rd=1 Are they Crockett?  Are they Green?  They're cool. When were Peals stitched aloft? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....14&rd=1 These could be old stock: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....78&rd=1 I like these too: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....61&rd=1 I believe the 240 is a Crockett last.

I have that in my EBay "watch" list. I agree it's pretty nice, and unique. Today, such a case would undoubtedly cost $700+.

I don't think those are Vass. RJ, I don't like it enough to buy it and have it shipped to me. I wouldn't use it anyway, I don't think.
