When in fact they were marked something else.
My point is that if you wear EG, you know your EG size. The better way to do this is to simply report the EG size, so you don't mislead people, and then if you want to give additional information, say "I think this would convert to an 11D". QED.
Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree! Why would we want to restrict our announcements of EG shoes spotted on eBay (or portray them in terms intelligible) to only those who already wear EG (and hence know their size in EG)? I would guess that there are just as many (perhaps many more) who don't, at present, own any EG shoes, but who would like to purchase a pair if they could at a reasonable price. I thus would have to disagree strongly with your assertion that "most people are aware of the EG conversion system." This lack of awareness has, in fact, been abundantly clear in the various threads that have cropped up on the topic from time to time on this forum (and, I believe, others too). I'm not sure whether your suggestion extends to reporting only UK sizes for other British shoes too, but if it does, I would again have to disagree that this would be helpful to most SF forumers, since the UK-to-US conversion factors do not, in my opinion, appear to be well understood. Thus, I will continue to post findings exactly as I have in the past. Far from misleading people, I believe that posting this way does just the opposite. And, of course, there's absolutely nothing preventing interested forumers from studying the listing to get more size-related information (including UK or Euro sizes when they're reported).
Incidentally, your post (back in #5775 in this thread) that "They appear to be size 10E on the 202 last" is ambiguous (and I had already identified the last). What would the uninitiated (to EG) forumer take out of that vis-a-vis size and width? UK, EG-specific, or US? In any case, I think that's all that needs to be said on the topic. You post your way; I'll do it my way.
