Cool Shoes, Paraphernalia & Desiderata - Page 379

I'd buy a pair of those AE chukkas myself. It's a shame that a style that matches the AE aesthetic so well is no longer made, even as AE cranks out the abomination that is the Winhall.

These are Peals for Brooks Brothers -- big whoop, right? But the sole stamp looks like it's just "PEAL" in sans-serif like the old, old Peal bespokes sold at Brooks occasionally. The heel is all leather, too -- no rubber toplift. So it could be an old Green or old bespoke.

however topied. when they topy they cut out a depth of the sole leather dont they? it is not just a simple apply-on topy , correct?

Usually a good cobbler will ask you to wear the shoes a time or two before applying the topy, in order to scratch the sole a bit so they can glue the topy on, no cutting or sanding of the sole should be necessary.

I was watching those as well. I've had a few pairs like that before, they are old Peal bespoke for Brooks Brothers.

Hand-sewn apron makes them a little more expensive at retail (something like $100).

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=290146926738 Are these spectators? I can never remember the definition. Anyway, with the dark brown suede they're certainly for winter unlike most spectatorish shoes.

Aren't those your size?

This looks like an exaggeration: "Retails for $800.00+"

Yep (which is why I saw them ), but they're not my style. I don't think there's enough information in the listing to determine grade, but a prudent buyer would ask pointed questions...

Those are nice! I guess they fit someone who wears a 12.5 in Allen Edmonds? i.e., they run large?
