Great deal for someone if you like the shoe and it fits, perhaps could be flipped. I don't think the original retail price is correct (or maybe they are not shell):

That's actually the official Allen-Edmonds Shoe Corporation auction store... they do appear to be shell but I don't find them attractive... believe they were a custom order.

One drawback of the auction store is they don't take returns...

Too bad they aren't an 11.5 D, and in a single color. It looks like they even have a storm welt.

Sausages strikes again. I don't normally pick up on their listings any more, since they stopped offering such tremendous deals on C&J, but these are interesting. They're an extremely sleek pair of bluchers on a last I've not hear of before, the 360--an example of a "smart round" last, with a lot of taper to the fairly pointed toe. Anyone know of this last? In any case, I like the shoes. The color looks like a natural for some really attractive antiquing.

however topied. when they topy they cut out a depth of the sole leather dont they? it is not just a simple apply-on topy , correct?

You're definitely much, much more of a shoe expert than I am, but my impression is that those thin topys are applied with rubber cement on top of the existing leather, which is left alone... I don't believe there to be any cutting out of the existing leather... And of course the heel topys are attached with small nails or tacks. However I could be wrong and welcome other opinions on this... personally I prefer shoes un-topyd -- I think the topy covering detracts from the overall aesthetics of the shoe - especially egregious on a shoe as beautiful as the revered Vass U-Last. Granted, the topys aren't noticed when the shoe is being worn, but as we all know, many of our shoes spend more time in our hands (being admired) than on our feet!

I won a pair of the exact same model a couple of weeks ago in black, old new stock, for about $60. I wish they'd also bring back their lace up dress boots as well.
