tia,

both are well made and extremely well priced, but it seems one is 44D (about a 11D) and the other is a 45B (11.5 to 12 narrow). so it seems unlikely both will fit you.

i'm not sure the first one is shell cordovan, but it is tough to tell from these pictures.

First one is shell. Price is terrific if you like the shoe.

there lies the rub...I'm not in love with the look of the shoe though it would be nice to own a pair of shell.

FWIW, which isn't much, I'd buy them if they were my size. In fact, I confess, I probably would have already. They are a good basic style, if not sexy, they're NOS shell from a good-quality cordwainer and the price is hard to beat. In fact, I tried to convince myself for a moment that they'd fit me, but they won't.

ok...thanks for the advice...you talked me into it. Once I have them in hand, if I really don't like them, I'm sure I can re-list or perhaps sell them here.

thanks again...

I really didn't mean to talk you into it, but then again, maybe i did. I don't think you'll have any trouble selling them at cost if you don't like and keep them new.

i almost bidded on them, just to reflip. if they are indeed shell cordovan, you could get $125-200 or more by reselling.

One would have to guess that the lettering "genuine cordovan" doesn't refer to color. Your estimate seems on the high side to me but I'm new to this. thanks for the steer on the width of the 11.5s...

i hope mine is smooth leather too.

They look good and fit good.

That was a ridiculous price for those. You should be able to get $200 easily if you are willing to wait a bit. Cheaney isn't a well known brand but they are made by Church's, so if you put Church's Shell Cordovan in the title of an ebay listing, you can flip those for $200 or more, I'm sure. If you just don't want them... I'll take them for the $70.

thanks J, nice idea on using Church's in the title should I decide to sell. I was also thinking they might sell better on uk ebay (but shipping costs might keep the overall price down.)

tia,

I just got the second pair - price was just too good. The shoe dates to the "60s/70s", so that could mean anything (about the manufacturer). I believe Edward Green made the early Peals, and I think that was true through the 50s, but not so sure about the 60s and 70s.

I think it's real - I've seen this offered for sale by several reputable sellers or thrown in as a freebie for suit purchase
