Cool Shoes, Paraphernalia & Desiderata - Page 38

I'm watching a pair of the boots shown below and posted here about a week ago. Does anyone have any experience? I'm wary because of the "Made in Italy" tag, but I *really* like the look.

If the Polos are marked a size 12, could they be ladies?

How do the suede Mackays fare on eBay? The other suede shoes I've seen haven't done very well. (This includes a pair I sold.)

Several pairs have sold immediately for a BIN of 484.99. Additionally, several pair of the Handgrade Altons from C&J have sold for BIN of $349.99... so I'd say they do fairly well.

If they were a US size 12, they would be mine. Someone really should buy them!

I own this shoe in shell cordovan. I wear it frequently and love it. The Santoni FAMs are a personal favorite of mine, though the shape and style of this shoe is a bit against the current trend toward longer, pointed toes.

Update #2 on these beasts: *DISCLAIMER* Graphic descriptions of boot abuse After getting on my heel the biggest blister I have ever had (that includes the blisters I got while a scout, while in the Army and from kendo), I have been in too much pain to wear them until that thing heals. Anyway, I broke down and gave them the army treatment. After having waxed and cleaned them a number of times, I rubbed them down with the mother of all leather softeners, vaseline (sure laugh at me, the damn stuff has softened even the toughest boots). Had them sit for a while, then I employed the tool every tough guy has hanging around, a french chef tapered rolling pin and bashed them in to submission, while avoiding the counters and brass hardware. They are somewhat softer now. The sole actually bends now, as I sat with them for a while flexing them. Once my ankle heals, I will post another update. P.s. I refuse to give them the "wade in water while wearing them" treatment, last thing I need is to have the nails rust. P.s. I know that vaseline being a benzene based solution may not be the safest thing to employ for leather but it has worked wonders for me in the past in this precise scenario. Army boots + vaseline + mallet = wearable boots that last a long time
