I can't tell, from the one inadequate picture, whether they're Lanarks (hard to make out whether there's storm welting), Nairns, or, possibly Suttons, but an email to the seller should tell you more, if interested.

Even if you're not interested in the shoes, the brief accompanying story in the listing may amuse you (if it's true).

Somehow, I actually believe it. My "crap detector" isn't going off...

Yes. The standard conversion is from UK 10 to US 11. I made the assumption that they were an E-fitting (UK), which, if the case, would make them a D-width in the US system--hence my titling the post 11D. Since very few C&Js are found in any fitting other than E (UK), this seemed like a reasonable assumption, but anyone interested should e-mail the seller and get him to read off what's written inside for confirmation.

You know, I just looked at them again, and wonder whether they are Handgrades. Doesn't the C&J medallion in the insole look like the impressed version (as in the Handgrades), rather than the gold stamped-on one? If they're Handgrades, I have no idea of the model name.

Oh, by the way, don't anyone believe the guff about their being 550 GBP new.

These are very interesting:

They look like really lovely shoes, and I'd like to know their maker. Evidently, these days, Brioni shoes are made by Lattanzi. However, I suspect, from the label, that these may be new old stock. I have a pair of unlined Brioni loafers with exactly the same label, and my impression is that they were made at least 5-8 years ago. I have not been able to trace their heritage, but when I contacted Brioni about the possibility of some factory work on them, they referred me to Lattanzi. These shoes (and mine) might well have been made by one of the other high-end Italian makers (StefanoBi, Sutor Mantellassi, Santoni, ....), but my guess is that they are, regardless, of extremely high quality.

One other observation: They appear as though they may be Blake-constructed, as I can't see any outsole stitching, but it's possible that it's just tucked in below the uppers and out of sight from the present camera angle.

I'm surprised they're still available; I see 1 offer in.

Priced appropriately for loafers. Loafers are not exactly the EG crowd's favorites...

SGladwell,
By a half size up do you man that your RLPL loafers are a 12D?

Actually, I was wrong. Inside the oval recess the size/last looks like "11111.5 E100" but going by A Harris's description that probably should be "11/11.5 E100." The slash isn't any less vertical than the ones, though, so maybe my interpretation is off.

But regardless, I shouldn't have posted. Maybe I'll take pics and put them up in B&S after A Harris's shoes sell. I've no interest in competing with someone who makes a living selling cool stuff at reasonable prices. Unless it's parallel imports for my own use from Germany.

Very kind of you, but fire away, the loafers have sold.

It's funny how much the ebay market for Edward Green has changed (entirely due to this forum btw.) Back in 03 I had a pair of these very same loafers, brand new, on ebay for about six months. I had them listed for as low as $249 and they never sold, I ended up keeping them for myself.
