The shoe pictured in the ebay auction is definitely not on the 89 last. The toe is not wide enough. I am almost certain it is on the 888 last.

My foot is slightly narrower than medium, so I need to size down 1/2 size on the 89 last or I step out of the shoes. Although it is a suboptimal last for my foot, I just had to own two shoes on the 89 -- Whittaker and Carter -- which IMO are among the finest RLPL offerings ever.

I just saw these JL Monks on e-bay. Low starting price. Hopefully does not spin out of control. I will ask the buyer about the musty smell. Anybody here have experience with this. Other than being stored in a musty basement, garage, warehouse, etc. is this a tell tale sign?

Black pebble grain monks ... an odd pairing, plus a musty smell. But I bet they end up in the $500-$750 range.

Is that water damage I see in one of the pictures (inside the shoe)?

Not my size, but perhaps someone is interested in these UK8.5 Loake loafers. Price seems good, and no competition so far.

Hard to believe these RLPLs went for just $415 on GVH. OK, they're black, I guess, but what a cool design....

Grapevinehill have the following RL Polo bluchers currently on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...7674&rd=1&rd=1

They also have these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3596&rd=1&rd=1

The first are referred to as their "Eaton" model and are said to have a retail of $595. The second are referred to as their "Eton" model and are said to have a retail of $425.

Except for color, they look the same to me (or am I missing something here?), and I'm assuming that one of the two spellings is the correct one and applies to both. But if so, why would the stated retail differ ($595 vs. $425)? Also, is the RL Polo "Eton" (or "Eaton") basically the C&J Onslow (but with all-the-way-through eyelet grommets)?
