For those of us learning about vintage Florsheims, can you give insight on your dating of the shoes?

Frankly, I'm not sure...in theory, they could be from the 50's. I've just seen shoes with that sole and heel in the 90's and I don't have any other reason to believe that they're 65 year old shoes.

That being said, I probably came off as unnecessarily negative in my original post. I think that these are a good deal at their opening bid and maybe even at the BIN. I've sold Florsheims--probably this exact model, but in Burgundy--on eBay with a .01 starting bid/no reserve and I was offered a $126 BIN on them.

This seller seems to have revised the opening bid/BIN several times ... The deal may yet improve.

I didn't mean to come off sounding so combative against you. I'm sorry about that (and welcome to Styleforum!)

Dear styleforum members, Please tell me what you think about my offer on ebay. I have not seen any people on this forum showing any interest. Maybe the shoes still were a bit too expensive. Therefore I just lowered the price from $320 to $280. Personally, I think it would be a very good deal. Please share me your opinions! http://cgi.ebay.com/Dark-Brown-A-Tes...QQcmdZViewItem

11.5 D cordovan Santonis: http://cgi.ebay.com/1000-SANTONI-Gen...QQcmdZViewItem however I'm not recommending them because a) they're two different colors, and b) because of this interesting statement in the description: "There is a tiny bit of scuffing on one heel area from storage." Were they stored in the back of a pick-up truck? I don't know about you, but my shoes don't get scuffed when they're in storage...

I used to have this shoe like 3 years ago. The thin bolonga (sp?) construction is not to my tastes. The shoe does have extremely nice leather. For an office based job they could work. But they are a very thin soled, delicate shoe.
