WARNING:

I bought these once before. The upper leather is totally dried out and rigid, so the shoes are completely unwearable.

Leather conditioner did no good? Or were they just way too far gone?

201 last - I suspect Edward Green. $90 BIN price. Not very attractive, though.

Andrew,
The seller, onlyyoutoo admits that he took these back in a return, and says that the buyer (you), said that the soles were too hard, and all they would need is a padded insole! He wouldn't be fudging a bit, would he?

Quote, from the seller:"Please note I accepted a return on these .. the buyer stated the soles were too hard ...I always believed that is what you want in a shoe..but to each his own..please expect these to have stiff soles...just put padded insoles in them if they are too stiff for you"

Did you try padded insoles?

BTW: I'm surprised that you bought them. They're not very attractive!

Two posts above there's a warning.

Two pairs of tall Ludwig Reiter boots that might be of special interest to Australian SFers. Too small for me, and I don't know if I would ever wear anything that high anyway. http://cgi.ebay.com/Ludwig-Reiter-Bo...QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/Ludwig-Reiter-Ho...QQcmdZViewItem

The first link seems broken for me. Here's another: http://cgi.ebay.com/Ludwig-Reiter-Bo...QQcmdZViewItem

Those black ones are marvelous... the brown ones not so much. I love riding boots, even though I don't really have any oppurtunities to wear them.

They are way past the point where conditioner would work. Both the upper leather and the leather lining is completely rigid. I've never seen anything like it. Looking at the soles, I think they were completely soaked with water, and then probably dried out with heat. Or else they were left in the sun for a really long time. I ate shipping in both directions but at least got my high bid back. I'm hoping to spare everyone else the trouble.

It looks good to me, assuming the leather isn't dried out or anything like that.

Good, but not great. Great would be ~$150 BIN.
