Cool Shoes, Paraphernalia & Desiderata - Page 250

StockwellDay, although this is way OT, I have to ask you about your username. I'd think it has to be after a stumblin', bumblin' (at one time) politician we have in Canada, who was a party leader a few years ago (that's when he did his stumblin' and bumblin'), but is now a senior cabinet minister in our minority Conservative government, at which job he seems to be doing quite well. Was he in fact the inspiration?

This has been asked before when I joined. It is an honest answer. I wasn't consciously aware of THE Stockwell Day of Conservative politics in Canada. I just thought it was a truly great name - a WASPy alter-ego per-se - I mean, its hilarious. However, I try quite hard to keep up with current events - even outside the Good Ol' U, S of A. So I'm sure I had heard the name before before -- even if news coverage in the US doesn't mention Canadian politicians besides the PM. After I joined SF, someone pointed this out to me, and it was too late to change.

I have received at least a half dozen bogus e-mails like the one above for this auction, including some very professional looking spoofs. Very bizarre. What the heck?!

Same here! I wrote back asking each of them "how much is shipping from Nigeria" and I haven't heard back from any of them!

Franco's has a few styles of Pertini on sale.

Be careful -- Pertini sizing is very screwy. If you're not familiar with it, be good to call Franco's for help.
Thanks for the heads-up, Doc - I was just about to ask about the sizing.
I wear a U.S. 9-9.5 but I recently sold a pair of Pertini bluchers because they were too large -- they were marked 8.5.

I think the Pertinis are listed on Franco's site under the size they're marked.

Has anyone tried these.

I was thinking about getting a friend a pair of the CT (Loake and/or Barker) 3-eyelet ankle boots for his birthday, but these look like they might be nicer. Or not.
I own a pair of the CT 3 eyelet ankle boots bought at very deep discount. They run a bit large and are adequate only.

I've held those in my hands. Leather is nicely soft, IIRC. But the double sole gives them presence -- they're not a suit boot.

I'd order the Pertinis over Tyrwhitts.
