looks like they've got channelled soles, not sure if they're masterpieces or if they're part of the newer lines. but still, not a bad price at all if they're the newer stuff, and an exceptional price if they are indeed masterpieces.

for the record, no connection to the seller.

I believe those are Masterpiece level Grensons.

I hope that putting the brand name on the sole of the shoe doesn't become a trend with other makers.

Don't know whether these are JL Prestige, but may be worth a look.

Yes, if you were a criminal tracking through snow or blood or whatever, that would leave a pretty distinctive pattern. No need for those resourceful CSI techs to scan the tread pattern into the super-duper law enforcement database in order to figure out who made the suspect's shoes!

Cripes, my shoes look like that about a week after buying them. But then I wear them, and the UK climate isn't kind....

I wish more elegant/classically-lasted shoes become available on rubber sole. The prevalence of leather soles on elegant shoes is really disappointing. Rubber is much more comfortable as an outer layer, provides better cushioning for your joints and feet, water proof and overall much more comfortable to walk/run in than a hard leather.
