My thoughts exactly. The panels create a really discordant look--sort of like a whacked-out Cubist out-of-proportion picture. Maybe the designer was stoned.... The leather is very nice, though.

New & Lingwood, size US 10E though it says the width is 4" which correlates to 10D in my experience. The auction ends in 28 hours and no bids so far. Currently stands at $50. They are black wingtips, medallioned(sp? real word?) toe and a little creased. There are no pictures of the soles but the shoes look to be in very good shape. I might bid at $50 for rain shoes but wouldn't go higher than that.

I agree. Not elegant.

okay, okay, I get it. I only recall commenting on the patina. I will be more discriminating in the posts I make in this thread from here on.

Fie to the traditionalists.

I think they look different, in a good way. I wouldn't pair them with a suit but I could see wearing them casually/socially.

Oh, and while not a Lobb expert, I'd take that "S" to mean sub rather than a discountinued model as the auction says. Maybe that stitching is a mistake

These are very nice, especially at the opening bid. They sound like they might be on the snug side for a 10D, though.

Point taken! My untrained eye didn't make any connection there, actually I didn't even notice it. I defer to my experienced mentors here. I did glean some satisfaction from your approval of the New & Lingwoods I linked above; how desperate and contrived is that? Your advice is valuable and, I agree, the construction of the shoe is odd but I still like the patina of it. I also noticed that a forum member is the high-bidder right now. If there is any speculation, I have nothing to do with the seller of these shoes(or anything sold on the internet).

S = sale, not sub.

Correct. R=reject in John Lobb talk.

I don't usualy like loafers, but these are kinda cool.
I would consider them if they were smaller. Besides the price is right at $50.

I am still hunting for a pair of cordovans. Do you think these would be okay with blue jeans and a suit?

Certainly an interesting 'patina' - they look as though they've been roasted
