I purchased the dark oak Mackays, edwardian Mackays, Carters, and Grants directly from Polo. They all came in the crappy, white, generic box.

I just saw a big shipment of Polo/Polo Sport shoes at a discount store here, and all were in the same white box.

The dark brown Mackays that I was watching (GVH) went for 373 whereas the black Camdens went for 436. Mackay winner is someone from the forum I think, mostly lurks and nips in with bids on the shoes described in this thread.

I'm surprised that the black Camdens outpaced the Mackays. I'm watching a pair of Camdens now with a very low bid. Still a good bit of time left in the auction, though.

Got my coffee suede Mackays today and they came in an RLPL box that looked like it had been run over by a truck....but fortunately the shoes were perfect!

That's because Ed decided to buy the Mackays directly from GVH

Someone got a great deal on the Barksdales in Edwardian for $265 too

p.s. Just got my Tramezza chocolate suede Gherardos in a perfect SF box with shoebags - love 'em!

Are the Mackays and the Barksdales on the same last?

My Mackay's had shoe bags, Barksdale didn't.

Boxes probably looked much like yours, but shoes were all good.

I received my tan Addison Tassel loafers last Saturday in good condition.
My box also looked like in had been smashed by a truck. The green polo box inside, had been stapled back-together. I don't like the fit. I'll try to sell them here, before I send them back.

Were the Grants and Mackays on sale at Polo?

Not AFAIK. I believe the loafers are on a different last than the laceups but I'm sure someone else can confirm this or not.

I like my Camdens but wouldn't have gone over the 300 in the auction, I had a 340 snipe on the Mackays. But I prefer my tan Mackays to the dark brown basically because I don't have a pair of 'formal' shoes in this colour except for a couple of monks.

Regarding shoe bags/boxes: my Camdens had a RLPL box with bags, my Mackays had a white box and only one shoe bag. Doesn't bother me though, as someone said, the shoes are great.

Why the $300 cap on the Camdens?

Because I already have a pair albeit half a size larger than 'normal'. The only reason for getting the second pair at the proper size would be to sell the first pair, which I would probably have sold on this forum for 340 thus being hit with shipping charges....

I believe this is because most men feel that a black/dark shoe is more versatile in their wardrobe than brown. I see this a lot: gray trousers-black shoes, olive trousers-black shoes, brown trousers-black shoes.
I remember seeing a black EG Malvern that closed at 450, and those Cordovan Santoni that I was looking at closed at 500.
