Andrew, I have the Ashby (basically a monkstrap version of the Dover) on the 888, and now wish I'd gone with the 606. The trouble (at least to my eye) with the longer-toed 888 is that EG incorporate it with the portion ahead of the front of the apron stitching elongated, rather than running the front round-off further out onto the toe. Of course, some might prefer this form, but I'd have preferred the rounded front of the stitching to come slightly further out onto the toe. Just personal preference, I guess, and, in the final analysis, certainly no big deal.

I like the Ecton on the 888, that is a super elegant shoe. You've at least one pair of those don't you Andrew? I think it was your shoes I saw in pictures.

Sure do, A. I have Ecton in Edwadrian on the 888 as well as Carter (the RLPL cousin of ecton) in dark oak on the 89. Here's a comparison shot and as well as one of Ecton alone I posted a while back.

I own the Carter but prefer the Ecton

BTW...I just got my GVH Barkesdales in Edwardian and mink suede. Pristine and perfect. Not too shabby at $340/pair!

I pretty much like 'em all Roger. Here's my Dover in coffee suede on the 606:

I have been absent for a bit.

Forgive my ignorance, but what/who is GVH?

I agree that the Dover is the best looking Norwegian on the market, but I own the Ashby on the 606 last and it's not a good fit for me.

By a happy coincidence, my digital camera arrived on the same day as my MTO RL Pitneys (EG Dovers) on the 808 last in Edwardian with extra antiquing and Thames sole. I ordered them on the RL 89 last, but the 808 is a good fit and I like them, so I think they're keepers:

BTW, the suede Mackays I had my eye on went to $512 over the weekend, so I'm not bidding. ebay newbies, Haaaarummmph!

Well, I can see the tress being costly but I hope they don't expect anyone to believe that the bags/box cost them more than $10.

I hear Corbens come with a fancy box.
