Cool Shoes, Paraphernalia & Desiderata - Page 140

Here is an interesting pair of Grenson "Gallant range" loafers in a 7 G. Not too crazy about the strip of leather running across the top shoe.

This seems like a good deal for someone on the forum:
Crockett & Jones Burgundy Brogue Oxford
9 1/2: C width (which I think means that they're narrow)
$262.50

With trees and some polish I'd bet those would look like new. And they are definitely Edward Green, made for Paul Stuart.

Sorry to be pedantic but they say 'designed by' what does that mean exactly? What do you think about the measurements?

He answered your question - means "made by EG". In a perfectly logical world, it would read "Designed by Paul Stuart, made by EG".

The phrasing is unfortunate, but if you look at the interior markings and it is clear that they were made by Edward Green on the 184 last. Re, the measurements, I'm afraid that I can't help you there. I am not much of a believer in using sole measurements to indicate size - differences in the shape/length of the toe (of different lasts) makes the measurements pretty much useless IMO. I include them in my auctions because people always ask for them, but don't put much stock in them personally.

Thanks.

I've bought from the seller before. They're okay if a bit disorganized and slow to respond.

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=230043180040 The seller thinks these are either whale or ostrich leg, but it obviously isn't ostrich leg and it doesn't look like any calf finish or exotic that I'm familiar with. They told me it was made by Dexter when their factory was in New Brunswick, so whale seems plausible. Personally I'm not comfortable owning something made from whales (although I had a fantasy about buying these and donating them to a museum), but at least someone on here would treat them with respect. (And no, I hadn't got around to asking for more photos.)

Aren't they going to pull the listing or something? I thought whale was not allowed.

Freddy Mercury was born in Zanzibar (now Tanzania). He grew up there, in India and then in the UK. His parents were from India as well (although from Persian descent). Attributing the "production" of Freddy Mercury to Iran is quite a stretch
