Could these be shell cordovan? I can't read the stamp on the sole and the puckering around the vamp stitching in the other picture looks interesting.... Edit: My guess is calfskin. The puckers near the stitching look too close together for shell cordovan. It flexes less than calfskin.

Well, thanks chorse123, I am a fan of that style (though it seems more Edwardian than 1970s). My curiousity got the best of me so I used the BIN. Oddly, the soles appear to be channelled. I can't wait to see what actually turns up.

Hey, no problem. They do look pretty cool, and appear to be in excellent shape. I just knew I wouldn't wear them, otherwise I would have bought them! It would be great to see some better pictures when you get them.

I like those too. I've been watching them but hesitated to buy them only because I've bought a bunch of other things this week. Those look like a good deal though - it looks like the soles are channeled. I was waiting for someone else to buy them so I could kick myself about it.

I believe these are not aportnoy's size so they are safe. and he probably has this shoe in all permutations of lasts and leathers possible.

Seller also has some Grenson footmasters (ugly ones though) and some Aldens.

I believe he's done with black, so anything in black will be safe too.
