Thee aren't going back. Wore them around the house a little today .. they look and feel fantastic on. They're a little snug, but being a touch longer and wider than the shoes i currently wear, i think they'll break in nicely.

I'll take them to a cobbler this week, and see what he can do with the soles. If i don't want toe protectors, will sanding them down a little and applying leather conditioner help ?

The 'flap' you see is just a bit of the 'channel' that has come unglued. you could just trim it off with some scissors if you don't want to put taps on the toes. That won't hurt anything. It's function is to hide the stitching and nothing else.

One of my friends who is a rider, was on a visit to London when we were in High school (early eighties). He recalled seeing a pair of beautiful riding boots on sale in Burlington Arcade for less than 100 pounds. I think he still regrets not picking them up. I think he was at Edward Green.

I wonder if this is part of the eBay slump... (Of course, these aren't Kiton's most striking work, either.)

Looks like size 8, which would probably fit a US 9.

It would be hard as hell to get the wheat juice stain off the suede, though.
