Oh ... Yes, I plan to use it. I haven't cleaned the inside yet. Probably just soapy water and then alcohol do it's thing and kill off any bacteria.

Did you check out the link? Seems reminiscent of bigbris' RL branded Falkirks. These also appear to have a channeled sole which is rare on these older shoes. Someone more knowledgeable than me might know better.

The Falkirk looks nothing like that. Nice try though.

I was referring to the writing inside (9793 vs. 9796). Not the shoe itself. I didn't think it was that confusing.

What do you think is the EG last number as written in there then? The SZO (which looked like a handwritten "520") last in Bris' was also used in some of the shoes EG made under the Peal name decades ago, as seen on Jun Kuwana's old site. Nothing looks like that in the ebay shoes you post. I don't claim to know every Green last, but I'm aware of more than most people on the forum. Enlighten us.

The shape of the cutout looks like those on some more recent Grenson Masterpieces, and for some reason, I think I've seen 2695 mentioned as a Grenson last but can't verify that. Nor do those shoes look entirely like Grenson to me. I also have never heard of Grenson making for RL, although it wouldn't be shocking.

How will you keep the water from getting on the leather? When I tried to clean mine by wrapping the outside in plastic, warm water seeped under the plastic and caused the alligator to shrink and peel off.

Expensive monkey boots. Rest assured the soles will not fall off.

I think we have the forum equivalent of the $500 Denon digital cable.

I think Ralph ran into someone wearing Grensons and commented that he had used Grenson to make shoes for Polo a long time ago.

Funny. Normally, pen marks detract from value....

Easy Grenson test: check the colour code.

01 - black
02 - tan
17 - cognac
29 - dark brown

Example:

- the "01" code matches the black calf.

So I don't think the shoes on eBay are Grensons.
