JS,

you must be my brother from another mother
I despise tassel loafers but I absolutely love those Gravati's that Lance is selling. Those things are just beautiful!!

Ha! I think you're right. Our taste in clothes is remarkably similar. Those Gravati would probably fit me, but I think my wife would kill me.

These are pretty cool, too:

I'd want to antique them, but that color might be a great base to work with.

Those are nice. I'd probably keep them as is and wear them in the summer with white pants. There was a guy at the Barneys sale wearing green Harris wholecuts like the Venturi's, cream colored pants and a different shade of green shirt. It sounds like a lot but this guy pulled it off and looked real good. I just wished I was a size 13 so that I could get these. If you don't have a pair of Borgioli's, get one because they are wonderfully made for the price and the lasts shape are awesome.

I have heard of distressed denim, but these shoes are ridiculous. What kind of idiot would pay $400 for shoes that look like they came out of a dumpster?

GQ did a big spread some time ago on new "used" shoes. I'm sure Prada was in there. I guess this is the hipster version of antiquing your shoes. As to what kind of idiot would buy these; Prada has sold enough crap like this to make the money necessary to buy Church's, an old line classic British shoe maker

I wouldn't, but now I know how to "antique" my suede shoes when they start looking like they came out of a dumpster.

Last season Louis Boston was selling heavily distressed shoes. Honestly, they looked like they came out of a comic book with pieces starting to peal off, all color washed out etc.

I forget the maker, and when they were shown to me my initial reaction was that it must be a joke (honestly).

Anyone interested?

If so, e-mail Lance. They're yours for 2/3 off--$55.

<gag>

Let me give that a little context. I own two pairs of raw denim jeans - working the Nudies in as we speak - I have no problem with the "distressed" as in "well-worn" sans holes. I don't like the look of clothes/shoes that are distressed in the "abused" sense that are hole/scratch-ridden. Just doesn't appeal to me. Especially in olive green with yellow laces.
