I've never asked anyone to remove a link, but think it's unreasonable that there should be an expectation that a poster should remove a link just because another person is bidding.

However, if a member asks the original poster and the poster feels that it's fair enough to remove the link as a favour to that other member, I think they should be allowed to do so and not be remonstrated for it.

Basically, I think it should be totally up to the person who posted the link (not up to the person asking for removal), with no criticism of the original poster's judgement/feelings on the matter either way.

Obviously, I'm the guy bidding on Johnny flapjack's link. I appreciate him taking it down, but if he wants to put it back up - no issue.

I feel the best way to handle this is what i did. A polite PM request, but no hard feelings either way.
