It looks pretty heavily used on the toes, but not in a way that has fundamentally destroyed the structure of the toebox area. I suspect that with some heavy TLC, it should come up OK. Not necessarily sure too many people would buy them if flipped, so I think you made the right call (the patina would be something of an acquired taste). But for someone's own use, it looks they would be fine.
